She was frustrated and that frustration affected every aspect of her young life, because she felt locked out of everything with her inability to read. Traditional learning methods were wasted on her and only made her feel worse about herself. When she entered second grade, she tested below kindergarten-level reading, even though she had been exposed to all the opportunities to learn that her brother had been exposed to.
