(she/they)
Amy began tutoring during her very first semester in college and has continued ever since, building over 20 years of experience helping students succeed in math. She has worked with learners of all ages, primarily supporting secondary math students, while also working with middle school and college-level learners. In addition to tutoring, she has taught at colleges and universities, bringing both depth of knowledge and a broad perspective to her work. As a homeschooling parent to her elementary-aged children, she remains closely connected to the learning process at every stage.
Throughout her career, she has supported students with a wide range of learning differences, drawing not only on professional experience but also on her own perspective as someone with a reading disability. This personal understanding informs her patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
Amy is known for being a patient and engaging tutor with a great sense of humor, many students report that they genuinely enjoy their sessions. She has a unique ability to break complex concepts into manageable steps while still helping students see the bigger picture. Her goal is not just to help students solve problems, but to build confidence and independence along the way.
She values building strong relationships with her students, creating a supportive environment where learning feels approachable and even fun. Many of her students stay in touch for years after working together, a testament to the lasting impact she makes.
Above all, Amy genuinely loves math, loves solving problems, and finds joy in those moments when a concept finally clicks for a student.
